Welcome to the online journal of writer, Shaun Jeffrey. Shaun is the author of numerous short stories and the novels The Kult, Killers, Deadfall and Evilution.
As someone who obviously wants to scare his readers, I have a quick question: What scares you? What makes a story scare the bejesus out of you?

Something that you can't control and I don't mean ghosts, zombies and standard stuff like that.
I remember that Clive Barker's "The Body Politic" was quite... chilling. The fact that your fingers might be plotting to kill you while you sleep makes you look at your hands in different way :)
Thanks for that reply. I can see where you are coming from, as events beyond our control are scary. I've never read The Body Politic. I'll have to track it down.
"The Body Politic" is part of the "Inhuman Condition" collection of stories. Superb work!

As scary things go, you can always get a crowbar and smash the head of a zombie, but if there's something you can't control it's a problem. It gets especially scary if it's something you'd never think about as evil in the first place.
Isolation and the unknown scare the bejeebers out of me! I don't like Death either.
You might be interested in a little project I have going - 'Tastes of the Darkness' - It's a blog carnival of horror flash fiction. Check it out, and I hope you can join us.

I'll add that to my buy list. Thanks.
